Delhi Cabinet Minister Dr Pankaj Kumar Singh has been appointed ‘minister-in-charge’ of East Delhi during a review meeting on the development works and proposals for the region convened by Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta.
As part of his assignment, the newly-appointed in-charge will regularly interact with public representatives of East Delhi, monitor the progress of the development works, and ensure prompt redressal of public grievances. It has also been decided that constituency-wise responsibilities will be assigned to accelerate development work and address local issues effectively, the chief minister said.’

She issued clear instructions to officials that all development projects should commence immediately and completed within a fixed time frame.
The chief minister underscored the need for close coordination among the MPs, MLAs, and councillors to ensure the effective implementation of all the development works. She said priorities should be set in accordance with the immediate needs of citizens and the larger public interest.
The meeting, held at the Delhi Secretariat, was attended by the East Delhi MP and Union Minister of State Harsh Malhotra, Delhi Cabinet Minister Dr Pankaj Kumar Singh, MLAs and councillors of East Delhi, along with senior officials of all concerned departments.
Public representatives raised issues, including tree pruning, redevelopment of parks, road and sewer repair, and the installation and repair of streetlights from their respective areas.
Gupta urged the MLAs and councillors to immediatelyh prepare and submit proposals and estimates for essential works under the CM’s Development Fund so that timely approvals may be granted. She also directed officials to update all files regularly and share their status through the e-file system to ensure transparency and accountability.
During the meeting, Rekha Gupta referred to the Seva Pakhwada to be organised from September 17 to October 2, on the occasion of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday. She said during this period, new schemes would be launched daily, along with inauguration and foundation-laying ceremonies across the city.
Commenting on the government’s initiative to review development works and fund monitoring, MLA Arvinder Singh Lovely has said it is going to accelerate the overall progress of the capital.
Harsh Malhotra said ever since the new government led by CM Gupta came to power in Delhi, the development is taking place on a fast pace through coordinated efforts. The review of development works will help ensure the allocation of the budget and implementation of the works.
